I bought this bag for mushroom foraging, and prefer a backpack and paper bags. It does work fine, and you can stick a thin mushroom ID book in its non-mesh pocket. It doesn’t have anywhere near the amount of room as a basket, which many people like to use (not me).What I did find that it worked excellently for were razor clams. I was able to easily put 15 food-sized clams in either mesh pouch, and carry a snack and a few other items with ease. I swung one of the mesh pouches around to the front, and was easily able to dig and put clams in the pouch. It was great! The belt was very adjustable, and I was able to use it over clothes and also a wetsuit with ease. If you are not into baskets for mushroom gathering, you might really like this, as you don’t have to take a backpack on and off as you collect. As for me, it is a 3-4 star for mushrooms, and a 5-star for clams and other shellfish gathering.
